Hey there!

My name is Matt, I am the blogger behind CalculatedCash.

I love numbers, excel, and personal finance. I love learning about it so I thought why not write about it too. I am hoping to spread any helpful information I have learned and continue to learn.

I have an amazing wife, Leslie. She is the best and very supportive! You will hear her name mentioned on the blog a decent amount. We also have a doggo named Bindy.

Leslie and I were at dinner brainstorming names for the blog. We had a few ideas but they were taken. We looked up synonyms on Google for intentional and money. We found the words calculated and cash – a perfect combination. You will read the word intentional over and over on the blog. That’s because it is one of the most important parts of personal finance and just life in general. Be intentional with your money. You can control the outcome.

Why start this blog?

I started this blog to simplify personal finance for people who know nothing about it and to also help those who have a little bit of an understanding. We have to deal with finances every day yet we aren’t taught this in school and many people don’t have a good understanding.

I started helping Leslie with budgets, finances, and her workplace 401k. I helped her to understand differences like pre-tax 401k and Roth IRAs. I think the most useful tool was a budget template I made for her. It was simple and easy to use. She had many people reaching out asking if they could send it to her. This was when I realized I could spread my knowledge to anyone who needed it.

As I continue to learn more and more about everything personal finance related I will share my knowledge and journey with you.
